Hehe, I'm watching my two ferrets play/fight as I'm writing this and I was just wondering why I didn't name them Fox and Alex ;-)
Anyhoooo, back to the marathon. Last night was no where near as fun as the night before, which doesn't mean it wasn't good though. Oh, and I managed not to cry, quite an accomplishment, even if I do say so myself, while watching Christmas carol and Emily.
There were however times I wanted to call Chris Carter and yell something like "hasn't she suffered enough?". Then again, I guess the X files wouldn't be the X files without all the personnal loss and suffering.
The other times I watched these episodes I seem to have missed a lot about how emotional it was (maybe I just noticed now because I'm like 10 years older). The way Scully opened up to that social worker when talking about the adoption, that's probably the most honest and open she's been to anyone. And the way she looks at Emily, and gives her the cross she received from her mother.
Hee, the fuzzies where really fighting just now and my dog went over there to intervene...very Scully like :-)
But I digress. Mulder was also extremely emotional and honest. A complete turnaround to his flippant behaviour in Detour. When he first meets up with Scully and Emily he looks kinda uncomfortable. In an attempt to get some kind of a reaction from Emily he does a really good Mr. Potato Head impression. And then the look on his face when he notices Emily's wearing Scully's cross. Another very emotional moment was when Emily had gone into a coma. Mulder obviously wanted to be there for Scully and she tells him she wants to be alone. He looked really hurt then.
Something that strikes me as odd is why Mulder wasn't at the funeral. Was he trying to avoid her family? Cause I really can't think of any other reason why he wouldn't be there for Scully.
Tara Scully: "Oh! Oh, that was a good one!"
Bill Scully Jr: "What? Is he kicking?"
Tara Scully: "Oh, he's kicking! He's kick-boxing! Well you had boys and girls, so which one kicked more?"
Margaret Scully: "Oh I had some pretty tough little girls."
Melissa Scully: "There is no right or wrong. Life is just a path. You follow your heart and it'll take you where you're supposed to go."
Scully: "God, you sound like a greeting card."
Scully: "According to this... I am Emily's mother."
Mulder: "No matter how much you love this little girl, she is a miracle that was never meant to be, Scully."
Frohike: "Are you in adoption services, Mulder?"
Mulder: "No, I'm at the maternity ward."
Frohike: "Any... fetching young mothers in there?"
Mulder: "Yeah, I think you might have a shot here, Frohike.
Scully: "Who were the men who would create a life whose only hope is to die?"
Mulder: "I don't know... but that you found her. And you had a chance to love her. Maybe she was meant for that too."
Scully: "She found me."
Mulder: "So you could save her."
