X files movie marathon: finally

I finally saw the X files movie Fight the Future again last night. That was actually what I was aiming for before the new X files movie is released. Yes, I admit, I have serious doubts I'll reach the end of the 9th season in time so I decided watching the whole X files series up untill Fight the Future wouldn't be too bad either. Although, if I can watch 4 episodes every evening I should make it.

Here's some thoughts on the episodes I watched the past days.

Mind's eye
Don't really have much too say about it, liked the story. Mulder seems to have been traumatized by the ice capades as a child though as he makes another comment about it.
Marty Glenn: "I'd never seen the ocen before. And now when I close my eyes... or even when I open them... that's all I see."
Mulder: "Well, you're lucky he wasn't a fan of the Ice Capades."

All souls
Why is it that Mulder believes everything they throw at him, except when it's somehow connected to the church? It's almost as if whenever Scully more or less believes in something related to her religion, he automatically claims it to be a scam. And unlike Scully he doesn't even have any good reason not to believe, I mean he's not the science - I need evidence to believe - freak.

The pine bluff variant
Still don't understand why Mulder lied to Scully in the first place. After 5 years of Scully saving his ass after ditching her with practically no leads, he should've known she was going to find out sooner or later. I mean she is an FBI agent Mulder, give her some credit...
Something to remember from this episode; when being interrogated by terrorists and offered the choice of mysterious spraycan or broken fingers...go for the broken fingers.

Folie a deux
I'm wondering whether David Duchovny really broke his fingers or whether the writers were just being somewhat consistent as Mulder is still walking around with broken fingers.
They finally think Mulder's gone insane and strap him to a bed...you can only scream about aliens and conspiracies for so long before something like that happens...
Anyway, Scully to the rescue and although she has seen what Mulder's seen, in the end she just puts it down to folie a deux.

The end
Someone please explain to me how someone with only 1 arm can fly a parachute.
CSM is back in the game and Jeffrey Spender finally meets his daddy.
But what every X-files shipper, like me, is most interested in is Diana Fowley. I don't understand why Mulder is so vague about their relationship. Pretty sure Scully wouldn't have had any trouble with it if Mulder had just been honest with her. For someone who wants to know every little secret, he sure is good at keeping secrets himself.
Gibson creates a pretty awkward situation for Mulder, Scully and Fowley. If only he had given some straight answers then... I was just wondering how long Mulder and Fowley knew eachother cause he seems to trust her a lot more than Scully.
Scully seeks the help of the Lone Gunmen in looking for anything paranormal in Gibson's brainscan. Which earns her an "ooh, walk on the wild side" from Frohike. And to get answers concerning Fowley that Mulder is obviously not willing to give her. Later on in the episode Mulder tells Fowley he's been doing fine without her. He obviously hasn't done that well without Scully the past 5 years.

X files movie: Fight the future
If the new X files movie is anything like Fight the Future I will be thrilled to bits. I hadn't seen it in quite a while and had forgotten how much I liked it.
After watching it again I also came to the very logical conclusion that if I wanted to finish the whole series before the release of the new X files movie, I would really have to stop rewinding scenes...and then playing them in slow-motion...and then repeating the whole process at least 5 times... and then looking for deleted scenes on YouTube; Scully an ice queen? Yeah right!
What exactly was Mulder implying, asking Scully what she was implying?
Oh, and the "don't ask" look Scully gives Skinner when she's late for her meeting, hilarious.
I think this is also the first time Mulder wakes up in a hospital bed without Scully by his side. She's replaced by the Lone Gunmen and it's pretty obvious from Mulder's reaction that he would've preferred seeing a certain red-head to the 3 stooges.
Just out of curiosity, how would you go about renting a snowcat on such short notice? Is there perhaps a snowcat rental agency when you arrive at Antarctica? And why didn't he bring enough fuel, or would that be too Scully-like? Do you think maybe CSM left him a can of fuel to get back?
Really wish the aliens would've dropped a few sleeping bags while they were flying of at the end ;-)

The beginning
Gibson leads CSM away from Mulder and Scully when they're looking for the escaped alien. Later on when Mulder and Scully have found Gibson, why do they step away from him to talk "in private", the kid's a mindreader...
Mulder's being a jerk again following Fowley and ditching Scully. I mean if he had stayed with Scully they most likely still would've had Gibson. By going after the alien Mulder ends up with nothing again, doesn't he ever get tired of that?
Eventually, the X-files are taken away and they're assigned to AD Kersh.
What struck me most, was that after 5 years, Scully still has to ask Mulder to trust her while she's done nothing to betray his trust. Apart from the occasional "i'm fine" lie.
Apparently Mulder would rather chase after a red herring and believe Diana Fowley, than trust in Scully giving him scientific proof that everybody's alien. How's that for extreme possibilities Mulder?!?
