"THE XFILES: I WANT TO BELIEVE"

donderdag 24 juli 2008

I seem to have lost the second DVD of season 9. I don't even know how I did
that. After 2 hours of going through my entire dvd and cd collection I still
haven't found it. Tomorrow I'll be borrowing that DVD from a friend so I'll
skip ahead for now and continue with some thoughts on the 3rd DVD.

Provenance
Ugh, another mytharc.
That was quite an explosion for a small bike like that. They're basically rehashing the 6th extinction trilogy.
Follmer threatens Doggett to stay out of the case, Doggett doesn't look too impressed though and breaks into Skinner's office to steal evidence, very Mulderesque (yes, that's a word now).
Another spacecraft, this time in Canada. I'm sure the accounting department of the X-files will be glad about the limited travel expenses.
Scully doesn't even knock on Reyes' door, just walks in. Makes sense I suppose, why would you lock your door in the middle of the night while you have stolen evidence sprawled all over the floor.
Scully's mother gets smacked around, which is a first. I think I now understand where Scully got her "Hurricane Scully" nickname. We all know she's a force to be reckoned with when Mulder's in danger, but threaten that little baby and she goes ballistic.
A cult threatening Mulder's life, is that really the best the writer's could come up with? And then saying Mulder's dead, I'm losing track of how many times he's "died".
When Scully gives William to the Gunmen, Langly tells her the baby is in good hands after which Byers quickly takes William from Langly. That crazy woman certainly is a better shot than Doggett.

Providence
Scully doesn't seem too upset about Mulder being dead, maybe she doesn't believe it, or she's getting just as tired of hearing that as I am. And what's with Skinner not believing in conspiracies in the FBI?
Scully's acting completely irrational. Even Reyes thinks Scully's a bit foolish not telling the FBI about the woman. Usually when people start believing their child is some sort of Messiah they get locked up in a padded room. Good thing Reyes can talk some sense into Scully.
Scully knows the artifact has healing powers from 6th extinction trilogy doesn't she?
Now all of a sudden Mulder's not dead? Where do these people get their information from?Wiliam has his very own remote controlled spacecraft, how cool is that.
Scully and Reyes see the spacecraft fly away, and this time Scully's conscious.

Audrey Pauley
1013 really can't deal with romance, they should've just followed through with the Reyes Doggett conversation.
Reyes ends up in a freaky floating hospital. I'm guessing Reyes was the only one working on the X-files who hadn't been dead yet. She had some catching up to do.
I was a bit surprised at how easy Scully was willing to give up on Reyes despite a nearly complete lack of injuries.
So doctor Death walks around with ready to go lethal injections in his pocket, just in case someone annoys him?
Reyes takes skydiving to a whole new level.
The actress who plays Audrey dies in every X-Files episode she's in.
Oh just kiss already.

Underneath
Watch out for the cable guy.
How did the cops get there that quickly?
You know if you pray and people die, maybe you should stop praying...
Doggett lapses into Scully's old habits, not believing what he sees.
